Minecraft: Bedrock Edition 1.21.113 – The Copper Age Official Update

Mojang has released Minecraft: Bedrock Edition 1.21.113, introducing one of the most significant expansions in recent memory. Known as The Copper Age Update, this version redefines copper’s role in the game by transforming it from a simple decorative block into a core material for equipment, storage, and utility. Alongside these additions, players will also notice extensive bug fixes, technical improvements, and visual enhancements.

Until now, copper in Minecraft had limited applications, mostly in building and decoration. With this update, copper officially becomes a full gameplay tier positioned between stone and iron. This progression not only expands equipment crafting options but also enhances survival mechanics, exploration, and storage systems.

New Blocks and Items

Copper Chest

The Copper Chest functions similarly to a traditional chest but introduces a unique mechanic: it oxidizes over time. Players can apply wax to prevent oxidation, making it both a practical and aesthetic storage solution.

Copper Equipment

Copper equipment includes tools, weapons, armor, and even horse armor. This new equipment tier provides durability and strength greater than stone but slightly weaker than iron, making copper an effective option for early- to mid-game survival.

Copper Decorations

Several decorative items now have copper variants, including copper torches, bars, chains, and lanterns. These blocks also oxidize with time, allowing players to create structures that evolve visually as the game progresses.

Shelf

The Shelf is a new decorative storage block capable of holding three items. Items placed on it are visually displayed, adding both function and aesthetic value. The block also integrates with redstone mechanics, enabling creative builds and automated systems.

The Copper Golem

One of the most anticipated additions in this update is the Copper Golem.

  • Functionality: Copper Golems interact with Copper Chests by picking up stored items and distributing them into nearby regular chests.
  • Drops: When destroyed, they drop copper ingots, maintaining resource balance.
  • Oxidation: Over time, Copper Golems oxidize into unique statue blocks with randomized poses. These statues serve as decorative elements and can be scraped with an axe to restore the golem before it fully oxidizes.
  • Utility: This new mob introduces light automation features, bridging gameplay between storage management and decorative design.

Accessibility and Visual Improvements

This update also emphasizes accessibility and visual clarity:

  • Dye icons have been updated for improved color distinction, enhancing accessibility for colorblind players.
  • Text-to-Speech support is now available in the Dressing Room.
  • The Vibrant Visuals feature has been refined, delivering more accurate fog, particle effects, mob textures, and lighting.

These changes collectively provide a smoother and more inclusive gameplay experience.

Gameplay Enhancements and Fixes

Alongside new features, Minecraft 1.21.111 introduces a series of gameplay fixes:

  • The Ender Dragon no longer freezes upon death.
  • Paintings no longer disappear during high-latency multiplayer sessions.
  • Grass color adjustments make swamps appear more natural and less intensely green.
  • Improvements to fire spread, water bucket mechanics, and various mob behaviors enhance consistency.
  • User interface stability has been strengthened across multiple platforms.

These refinements ensure that the game feels more stable, predictable, and polished.

Technical and Editor Updates

For creators and developers, this update delivers several important tools and improvements:

  • Custom biomes are no longer classified as experimental, providing stability for creators using world generation features.
  • The Minecraft Editor has been updated to version 1.1.0, introducing a flatten tool, line weight options, improved structure handling, and clearer notifications.
  • Expanded scripting APIs enable more advanced entity behaviors, camera controls, and item components, giving developers greater flexibility in designing custom content.

These changes reflect Mojang’s continued effort to support both casual players and technical creators.
