Minecraft Bedrock Update: Copper Golems, Flat Worlds with Void, and More
Minecraft Bedrock has just received an exciting new update, packed with brand-new experimental features, gameplay improvements, bug fixes, and technical upgrades.
Experimental Features (Enable in World Settings)
Copper Golem
- One of the most anticipated additions, the Copper Golem is now available as an experimental feature. This mechanical companion is designed to help automate item sorting in your base. Here's how it works
- Crafted using Copper Ingots and a carved pumpkin
- Collects items from nearby Copper Chests and distributes them to standard Chests or Trapped Chests based on item type
- Can carry up to 16 items at a time
- Operates within a horizontal range of 32 blocks and a vertical range of 8 blocks
- Drops 1 to 3 Copper Ingots when killed
- This feature adds a layer of automation and charm to your storage systems, making it easier to manage large quantities of items
Copper Chests
Copper Chests are a new storage block that functions similarly to standard chests but can oxidize over time, just like other copper blocks. Key features
- Crafted with Copper Ingots and a Chest
- Can be waxed to prevent oxidation
- Works in conjunction with the Copper Golem for sorting
- Comes in multiple states: normal, oxidized, and waxed variants
These chests add visual variety and mechanical functionality to storage systems
Copper Tools and Armor
Copper now has more practical use in survival gameplay. Players can craft full sets of tools and armor using copper, bridging the gap between stone and iron equipment
- Tools have more durability than stone and work faster, but are slightly less effective than iron
- Armor provides better protection than leather but is weaker than iron
- Copper tools and armor have high enchantability
- When smelted, copper equipment returns Copper Nuggets
This change gives early-game players a new gear option and makes copper ore significantly more useful
World Generation & Gameplay Updates
- The Flat World preset now includes The Void, giving players more options for creative and custom map creation
- Players can now set their spawn point in The End via commands
- Trees generate more realistically in groves and snowy plains
- Swamps now generate mushrooms more accurately, and new puddles appear in swamp and mangrove areas
- Frozen oceans and deep frozen oceans have more natural water-ice distribution
- Podzol generation has been improved beneath large spruce trees
These changes enhance biome realism and bring Bedrock Edition closer to parity with Java Edition
New Mobs and Behavior
- Copper Golems have unique behavior patterns for sorting items
- Piglin Brutes now despawn correctly in peaceful difficulty
- Happy Ghast emits ambient sounds properly and drops experience when killed
- Bogged can now spawn as spider jockeys in swamps
- Leashed mobs can now interact more naturally with boats and minecarts
These improvements bring smarter mob behavior and fix long-standing inconsistencies
Visual and Audio Improvements
- Vibrant Visuals now affect weather, sky, and cloud colors more accurately
- Various first-person visual bugs fixed, including lead positions and bottle enchantment glow
- Better shading, texture, and highlight behavior on blocks like chains, cakes, and mangrove roots
- Fishing line thickness improved to reduce visual disappearance
- Improved first-person hand positioning and ambient effects under different graphical modes
This update improves both the aesthetics and visual feedback across devices
User Interface and Controls
- Better navigation and spacing in settings menus
- More responsive HUD and smoother motion for locator bar and player indicators
- Improved support for touch controls, including Spectator mode camera toggles and Pick Block functionality inside scaffolding
- Marketplace updates with clearer item ownership indicators
These changes offer a more polished experience for both touch and console players
